How to cut mp3 file into a smal equal parts and insert silence at the end of each. By what tools I can approach this aim. This is for language studying purpose (english), I want to divide audiobook into small fragments (5-10 sec) with silence pause after each for complete understanding of the material (and repeating it mentaly).

If you're able and willing to do your studies while running the Wavosaur, here's a quick way:

1. Open the audio file in Wavosaur and hit Play (space bar) . While the file is playing, hit M (marker) where you want your first section to end.

2. Stop the playback. Just hitting space bar will do that, it acts as a start/stop toggle.

3. Double click anywhere within that first section, ie. before the 1st marker line. That section is now selected (and highlighted).

4. Hit space bar to play that section. Playback will stop automatically at the end of the selection (unless you have the loop feature on) and will give you all the time you'll need to understand that section. You can replay the selection as many times as you'll need simply by hitting the space bar again.

5. Once you are done with that section, left click once on the selection. This will remove the selection. Now you can continue playing further. When you reach the next spot to stop, hit again M for marker.

Stop playback and double click between the first and second marker to make that section selected.

Repeat step 4.

You can go on and on like this, always selecting the area between last two markers.

This might look like a lot, but is really easy to do in real life after you get it going. Advantage of this method is that you're not bound to pre-made artificial sections which might cut off in the middle of sentence etc. You can also take as short or long break between playback as you'll need and repeat at will.

If using this method, you will run out of markers eventually. If that happens, choose Tools -Markers - Kill all marker to wipe out the old ones. After that you might wanna Mark the current spot before continuing with the playback....otherwise your next section will be everything from the beginning to the 1st new marker.

EDIT
If you're really wanting to go for the automatic slicing, you could check for example the free
NCH Slice Audio File Splitter
http://www.nch.com.au/splitter/index.html

Once you have the splits done, you can then use the Process - Insert silence function in Wavosaur.

Haven't used it myself, but more experienced users might also tell you about Wavosaurs Slicing/Region tool. No need to go elsewhere if you can use that for your needs.

OK, check also this
