Last two years there is no update. Latest version dated June 2009.

Forum is almost no help most of the time. Is anyone using this program?

I have heard some good things about Wavosaur in other Forums. So I am trying to make some use of it. It is the Best Audio Editor in Freeware List in my opinion. But there are many Bugs in latest version which needs attention.

Any light on this is welcome.

More than a week. No response from developer team.

I am in pain to see my favorite free wave editor to die. R.I.P.

No not yet Very Happy

Wavosaur development needs motivations and hours and hours of work.

More, we have discussion about the future. But Wavosaur is not yet died!

I'm always afraid about people giving up when it's so good.
I mean, you've done the hardest part, we've got a great, clean, efficient application, it just requires a few fixes here and there (for instance, the marker export does weird things), but it's almost perfect as is.

Maybe you should go the "unlimited shareware" way (like reaper, with just a nag screen), or even a "give what you want" thing

Cheers

Wavosaur is a donationware: so people give what they want. We just filter "bad donation" like 0.01$...

I certainly hope Wavosaur (WS) is not dead! I try to steer people to it when they need some form of audio editor, recorder, etc. I've read the interviews and know it was mentioned about the possibility of selling it, given the lacklustre support through donations. I've developed some "free" software over the years and you don't make much (i.e. anything) from it. If you don't want to force people to pay by throttling or only allowing reduced functionality until you register, then nag screens are about the only way to go.

Personally, no one seems to know about WS. I know I didn't take WS seriously when I first encountered it, due to both its "cute" icon and the name. Once you get past those, it's a fairly good editor.

I'm mainly into vinyl restoration and so only use the recording/editing features, no VST and it's that area which still needs some improvement. The Wavosaur website lists it as an "audio editor", but it lacks one of the most basic editing features: a waveform editing cursor like Sound Forge or Audacity. Also, the handling of large files, and/or some more graceful way of failing to handle them (i.e. not crashing, hanging, maybe provding a SPLIT tool to break them into smaller chunks).

Your donor list shows 82 donors. How many more donors do you need to get this project going again? Two and a half years without even a minor update tells me this project is dead for all intents and purposes. Wavosaur is now way behind the curve with no support for ASIO recording or WASAPI. If you have no intention of developing this further (despite your assurances to the contrary) and you've gotten your donation money out of it, why not open-source it?

Sorry for the confrontational tone of this post, but as someone who donated more than mere pocket change to your project, I feel ripped off with development at a standstill for two and a half years.
