I'm new to Wavosaur so I'll apologise now if I'm being stupid. I’m using Windows XP Pro SP3 if that helps.
Firstly, I like what I've seen and have successfully edited some existing files.
Now I’m stumped. I want to record.
The Audio Configuration screen shows only ‘Realtek AC97 Audio’ in the in and out fields; ASIO is not checkmarked.
Two questions:
1) How do I select input channels e.g. Mic, Line, CD, etc, or does the system default to the soundcard output?
2) Where and how do I control the recording levels?
The input VU meter sits at about -23 but jittering slightly. When I trigger a sound effect there is a slight response on the VU displays. Recording does work but playback is extremely low – barely detectable.
Can anyone please give me a push to get me going?
Thanks, in anticipation. |

Open Wavosaur and click 'Monitor input with VU meter'.
Open your computer's Control Panel >Sounds and Audio Devices.
On the Audio tab there should be a section titled 'Sound recording'. Click the Volume button, select an input, and adjust input level. |

Hi ChairmanOfTheBored,
Thanks for the reply. I'd tried the Windows audio settings and found no changes necessary (I have been using Audacity without problem).
This morning I was on the verge of giving up when I decided to re-download Wavosaur. Well, it worked this time. I have absolutely no idea why.
Thanks again for your support.
I'd still like an independent audio-in level control though.

When I started using Wavosaur I spent quite a while looking for the input level control. Seconding this as a feature request.
I imagine the omission is due to Wavosaur's focus being on audio editing.(?)
