| I currently use v1.0.5 w/ the lame mp3 extension working fully. But it'd sure be nice if when I opened mp3 files, they would be 'SAVED' as mp3 files instead of having to do the export menu thing. and then having to cancel saving it as a WAV file when closing the program. |

i think it's not so good.
mp3 encoding is not lossless,
we have to remember that each time we export, the quality is lower. |

Exactly: mp3 encoding must be made at the end of the project, but not as the edited file. That the reason why you just 'export' the your project to the mp3 encoder.
