Hello,

First I want to congratulate you for the extraordinary support of multichannel files ! Since last week (Soundforge 9 release), I think that Wavosaur was the first and the only audio editor that allows 16 channels files editing.
Even now it is remarkable, among all for a freeware one.

I don't know what you have planned for the following versions, and I suppose that multicahnnel features are far from being a priority, nevertheless here are some first suggestions Wink

The more important one : the ability to cut / copy / paste and change volume by channel.
Soundforge actually uses the more straightforward solution for user point of view (clic and drag !). It can be a model (try it), but I don't know if it is hard to program or not...

Second : multichannel VST processing.
I have been very pleasantly surprised by the fact that you can already insert a multichannel plugin (http://acousmodules.free.fr) and hear the result via the ASIO driver, but I have not succeded to process the file.
I press the button Apply but nothing happends.
It works with stereo files and plugins.
Perhaps is it me ?

Continue your very good work,
Thanks,
Jean-Marc Duchenne

Hi Jean Marc,

Your post is very interresting. could you send us via email your plug which didn't work with tha apply feature (in Wavosaur).
Multichannel engine is still in progress. You can select/unselect channel with 1 2 3 4 ...0 keys.

Thanks for the tip... it is not at all a bad way to do...

All those that I have tested :
- all mines : http://acousmodules.free.fr/ with 6, 8 or more audio I/O : the effects play nice but pressing Apply doesn't change anything to the files
You can try for example this one http://acousmodules.free.fr/fichiers/surround/SpatVerb55.rar (5.0, set the "Inputs" mode to "Five" to enable the six inputs)
- some Starplugs : idem ( http://www.starplugs.com/ )
- all Acon Digital's plugins make Wavosaur crash instantly ( -http://www.acondigital.com/us_StudioNecessities.html )
- Wizooverb 5 make it crash a few seconds after loading
- Voxengo PristineSpace makes the computer freeze when play ( http://www.voxengo.com/product/pspace/ )

No problem, I understand Wink
As I have said, it is already very nice to be able to load multichannel waves and do some basic editing.
Plugins will be nice later...

Ok, thanks for your post. We are going to check 'apply' code.
We will try to test these plugs.
If it's possible, we will try to correct it in the next release.

Hi,

Thanks for this new release : multichannel processing is now working !
The Add channel option is also very useful.

Do you think that it will be possible in a future version to process only the channels which are selected ?

Thank you very much for your report.
Yes it's possible to apply VST chain only for selected channels. We are working on this subject. It is in our todo list. So stay tuned!
