|
|
Wavosaur crashes when using SoniqWare plugins. They load and apply OK, but when bringing up the plugins' UI using "View," they are very unstable and will eventually crash Wavosaur and ntdll.dll when trying to manipulate the controls.
It looks like there are some strange drawing issues with the plugins.
I have verified that the plugins' UI work without crashing in Audacity 2.0.4, and also in VSTHost 1.53, on the same computer.
WinXP SP3, 32-bit version of Wavosaur and plugins.
AppName: wavosaur.exe
AppVer: 1.1.0.0
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.6055
Offset: 00010717
(Offset changes with each crash but everything else is the same.)
Have tried SG-1 and PE-1 so far. |

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!
Ugh. Us ridiculous XP users who refuse to upgrade. :)
If you cannot reproduce the crash on XP, it could be video driver related. I am using quite an old DAW for a variety of reasons.
Anyways, please don't make any kind of big effort on this, as there is a workaround, which is to use VSTHost for real time manipulation of controls, then saving the settings, then loading it into Wavosaur, and then finally loading the saved plugin settings. It appears the crash only happens in Wavosaur when touching the controls of the plugins' GUIs which affect the graph displays. Applying the Soniqware plugins in Wavosaur works fine. |

This is probably just me again, but I also experience Wavosaur crashes and instability when using some Sonnox Oxford plugins, like SuprEsser and DeNoiser.
I know these plugins use Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtime library, I wonder if it has anything to do with that.
In this case, the plugin window will freeze after using it for a bit, then Wavosaur will crash when hitting the Suppr button on the plugin.
Everything runs fine without these issues in other programs (tried Audacity, Reaper, and VSTHost).
Would be nice if I could get it stable in Wavosaur!
Again running XP SP3. |

The SoniqWare plugins come with two runtime dll, i tested with & without, it works ok.
i tested on four different computers, with XP SP3, XP SP2, Vista & Windows 7, i can't reproduce the problem
about the Sonnox, it's going to be difficult, we can't even test their demo, it needs iLok ! |

I have to wonder if isn't the iLok that is causing problems in both cases.
I hate the thing, it wouldn't be the first time it's caused problems. I should uninstall it and stop using plugins that require it.
Thanks again for spending time on it! |
