Wavosaur can not open a mp3 file

Wavosaur can not open a .wav file, after check, I found that this file is a real .mp3 file but with a .wav file extension. But this file can be opened by another audio edit software. Can wavosaur support this function?

we could, maybe we'll add a detection for this kind of file.
but for the moment, just renaming the file to .mp3 works very well
