This program has really come together nicely.

1. Some acid loop editing style selection tools would be awesome, for quick editing of tempo based samples. Like where you've selected a bar of music, and can use the ";" key to shorten the selection by half, and use the "'" key to lengthen it by 2 times. This allows you to really get quick with splicing stuff together.

2. I would be neat to have some kind of ratio-based-selection. Where the loop select tools would be by 1/2 and *2, these would be by an arbitrary ratio you could set in the preferences. Like the golden ratio or something else weird. Then you could edit stuff that wasn't exactly in 4/4 as well as do all sorts of ratio based edits and measurments.

I suppose you could leave these two features as the same key command and the user could input the ratio in the user prefs or something.

hey Rex,

Well, 1 and 2 are the same.. but instead of using 1:2 and 2:1 respectively

But for #2, the multiplication/division of the selection is arbitrary. So, instead of twice or half, it could be a third, or 1.23456. Whatever.

that's ok!
that's a good idea, if i understand correctly, shortcut keys to make the selection 2X or 0.5X, or -user defined-X.

I find the idea interresting.

I have a question: the selection increase conserv the start/stop point, or the increased selection is always centered?

In few word: feature will expand selection but where (right, left, both?)

Expanding the selection would leave the leftmost side stationary, while the rightside would double the distance.

This is your selection..
[ - - - - - - - - ]
push a key(say like the right arrow), it it becomes
[ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ]

This is your selection..
[ - - - - - - - - ]
push a key (the left arrow), it becomes
[ - - - - ]
again
[ - - ]
again
[ - ]
etc.

When contracting, the leftmost side is stationary, and the rightmost side gets cut in half and half again, until you've basically selected 2 samples.

Maybe holding shift could move the selection "one selection width" left or right depending on which key you press.

this is your selection...
[ - - - - ]
hold shift and push an arrow key, it moves
_______[ - - - - ]
hold shift push an arrow key and..
[ - - - - ]
back to where we started.

perhaps holding ALT expands the selection in the opposite direction, by moving the leftmost side as opposed to the rightmost side.
Holding ALT would be a mirror of the first example.
