I find it very useful in other editors to be able to "Select from cursor to star" and "Select from cursor to end" commands, in order to trim recordings.

That is a great idea.

i usually hit "m" on the keyboard, this creates a "marker" at cursor, then double click on the left or the right of the marker to select "from start to cursor" or "from cursor to end"

even faster there's SHIFT+HOME and SHIFT+END !
