I also have RME hardware (2 RME HDSP9652s) and I get the same freeze/crash when attempting to open the "AudioConfig". I'd be willing to help out if I can for a solution. I am using the latest Wavosaur as of this writing (1.0.0.9000).

Hello !
I'll tell the dev about this, i know he has fixed some issue with ASIO recently
you could help us to debug the RME bug, don't hesitate to leave a pm (to me or the main developer) with an email adress so we can send you some test files.

Hi,

I have the same bug, but in my case changing input and output device to"2" sorts things out. I only have one sound card attached, an RME Fireface 800. Onboard sound is disabled from the bios, however I wonder if any other of the devices and drivers installed on my computer might cause this problem. I'm guessing that other people using such a nice sound device as an RME are fairly serious users and more than likely have a similar setup to me, with all the associated drivers.

In my case the computer is an Athlon64x2 3800 with 4 gig of RAM. NVIDEA Nforce 4 chipset, running XPsp2
4 SATA2 drives:
System
Swapfile and archive
Samples
Audio Projects

Devices attached:
Fireface 800 (firewire)
Alphatrack controller (USB)
Midex 8 MIDI controller (USB)

I use Cubase SX3 and the excellent REAPER for recording. I'm hoping to switch from my present wave editor to WAVOSAUR as my default editor. I know that many other REAPER users are doing the same thing. Some of the REAPER community are also getting very excited about running REAPER with JAD1 under WineASIO. Wavosaur could be very interesting in this respect. I'm building a machine for this purpose at the moment.

I'm more than happy to do some testing for you if you would like.

All the best
Ian

hi, welcome to the forum
We have identified a bug with the audio config panel and fixed it, but there are some crashes that remain (apparently for all users with a RME interface). Surely a problem with ASIO drivers.

Is it ok to send you by email (the email you used to register to the forum) a special version of the Wavosaur software for testing ?

It could take some times to debug, thank you for the help!

Sure Rex,

Thank you for responding. I look forward to your email.

Are the RME developers aware of the bug? My experience of the developers is very good. They have an excellent attitude to their clients. Probably to other developers too.

P.S.
Despite the Audio Config window crashing Wavosaur, if no attempt is made to enter the dialogue it seems to work fine.

Hi Rex,

Just had my first chance to run 1.0.0.9003

It seems to be fine now. I've been playing withit for a while now and haven't been able to crash it yet. Contents of the .cfg file below.

Great work!

Do you have also problems with the audioconfig dialog ? (it seems it was happening only with RME drivers, but maybe it was affecting other drivers, who knows!)

This debug version is the same as v1.0.0.9000 but with the bug fixed!

I also have the same audioconfig crash. I'm using Frontier Design Dakota/Montana cards, with latest (v3.15) drivers, so it is happening with more than just RME devices. WinXP, P4 2.8, 2gb RAM.

Any chance I could test the debug version?
