I am trying to get a good sound from my recorded kick and snare. I was just wondering if anyone had a favorite eq setting that gives them both a good punch but doesn't sacrifice the natural sound of the drum? I am currently using a 31 band VST and can get close but I'm always up for some good advice or tricks.
Thanks in advance,
Todd |

I often use a compressor for my drum processing, and an EQ too of course.
The winning pair for me is the Kaerjhus Classic Compressor or BlockFish VST with the electriQ EQ VST.
I'll get a closer look to my settings, but i'm much into electro or funky music, and sometimes i don't mind having unnatural kick! |

Duncan Parson has made a free 7 bands eq with transient shaping.
Electri-Q is also amazing for that.
You can also try some other transient shapers (check for the FLux Bittersweet2, Loser TransShaper, Stillwell Transient monster....), or efficient parametric eq (ReaEq is free, Electri-Q, etc), and and compression. |
