- W1 from betabugs, a simple waves L1 clone or(but without any metering)
- jeroen breebart brickwall limiter(sounds clean and comes with metering) Wink

i can't speak to wavosaur compatability yet as i've just downloaded the program and have never used a VST yet, but i HAVE researched the best freeware VSTs over the years and would like to add these very popular ones to the list

Aradaz Maximizer 5 is considered by many to be one of the best SQ limiters
http://aradaz.blogspot.com/2008/06/aradaz-maximizer-5-reworked-version.html
the download is down on the bottom right of the page

Kjaerhus Audio Classic Compressor is a popular favorite and virtually ALL of the other Kjaerhus Audio Classic VSTs have a reputation for good sound quality
-http://www.brothersoft.com/classic-compressor-133857.html

SE Endorphin is a respected compressor/limiter
-http://www.brothersoft.com/se-endorphin-161107.html

the "Fish Fillets" 3 pack of VST from digitalfishphones includes their SPITFISH de-esser, their FLOORFISH gate/expander and their highly regarded BLOCKFISH compressor which a lot of people use to add character to tracks
http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.php?item=2&subItem=5

& finally
the TLS Maximixer limiter linked to in Wavosaur's own handy VST list is quite popular
http://hem.bredband.net/tbtaudio/archive/oldtbtvstplugins.htm

the Buzmaxi3 limiter is also well respected, but i believe that it's no longer freeware

hope that info helps.
